IT outage on critical manufacturing equipment for ductwork manufacturer prompts rapid recovery and long-term improvements
The Client
A manufacturer responsible for fabricating ductwork relies on the productivity and efficiency of their machines. They had one computer that controlled all of the automated duct fabrication equipment; the device had been on the brink of collapse and finally did, bringing production to a halt.
The Project
1Path stepped in and not only resolved the problem but improved the system. With more commitment and a more complete game plan, we were able to:
- Stand up an older, compatible Windows XP computer and get the fabrication tables up and running the same day to continue the production process
- Repair the computer that had been previously running the fabrication tables
- Build a new computer, and improve the interface with the tables.
The Result
The manufacturer is no longer at the mercy of one machine. Instead, they are enjoying the security of multiple working machines and a more stable system, as well as complete documentation on how to generate the device, which will allow them to better support the system in the future. Additionally, without the burden of relying on one old and failing machine, the manufacturer is able to focus on improving the operations process, rather than simply keeping it afloat.
